Perfection Is An Illusion
PERFECTION IS AN ILLUSION Anytime you start something new or begin a new chapter in your life there is bound to be some fear. The trick is to feel and acknowledge it but not let it stop you from moving forward towards your goals and dreams. When we are used to living or being a certain way one becomes comfortable with what’s safe and familiar. This is a big reason why people stay stuck, don’t change or grow.I remember when I wrote my first book “ The mindful mom to be” so much fear came up for me! Things like who am I to write this book? Will anyone buy it? I cant spell and my english is awful! Will they like it? Will I have to go on TV and been seen .. OMG!! So scary! It brought up a lot of insecurity that I didn't realize I had. But despite the fear I pushed through it by feeling it, journaling about it and spoke about it with my support team. When It came up (which was a lot) I would say out loud I hear you you and know you are trying to protect me but I am choosing to move forward anyway. There are different ways in which we keep ourselves from growing and taking risks one of these is perfection and the other is procrastination. If you are waiting for life to be perfect to begin than you will never get started. Perfection is an illusion. It’s a way for your ego to keep you safe inside your little bubble. Like I said above my grammar and spelling is awful. I didn’t go to college and got a C - average in high school. The one thing I do have to share is my wisdom and if I let the fear of being perfect stop me, none of my books would have been written. I would not share insightful messages on my instagram @lbreggy, I would not have written any articles, basically I would have kept all my wisdom inside and not help anyone because the way I express isn’t perfect. Can you see how you might keep yourself stuck by trying to do it perfect? The other thing is procrastination. We procrastinate again as a way to protect and keep ourselves for going to the next level. Sometimes procrastination is helpful. When I was writing my books, my soul coach michele meiche said to me,” a little procrastination helps burn off some energy so you can actually sit down and get the job done”. This was true for me I actually cleaned the house before I would sit down to write and if you know me I HATE cleaning! If you procrastinate for days on end then it might be your ego trying to sabotage yourself from moving on. Can you notice how doing this might keep you stuck in the comfort zone? This year is a new beginning! I mean people come on it’s a whole new decade to start fresh and move towards your dreams! Make the choice not to allow fear of the new stop you from shining and being the brightest you can be! It might be time for you to just start. To not waste anymore moments. To not wait on perfection or let procrastination or fear over take you. But to get up from the floor, with wobbly knees, and start where you are at. You got this!!! Xoxoxoxo Lori
